Most of us love to listen to music and when you’re at the pool or quarry to enjoy a summer dip, you don’t necessarily want to listen to what everyone else is listening to. Hence, the headphones.
Headphones have come a long way. The very first headphones were actually developed in the 1880’s for telephone operators but they weight a whopping 10 pounds! Imagine that on your head all day!
It’s hard to believe but the first earbuds showed up in the 1920’s for those with hearing problems and for radio operators. They were likely quite costly and weren’t widely used.
Many more variations of headphones in terms of size and use came and went until finally in the 1980’s, the Sony Walkman made its appearance with cheap foam pads but hey, it was portable, affordable and pretty cool! All you needed was a bunch of cassettes and off you went.
In come the year 2001 with the Apple iPod and it’s likely you know the rest of the story – or much of it anyway. We went from bulky and big to smaller and more portable and as with many things, we’re back to the bigger headphones, think Beats by Dre as opposed to the earbuds.
Back to our point. Most of us want to listen to our own selection of music and not someone elses. So if you’re planning on swimming, you need a waterproof headphone. We looked for the best waterproof headphones for swimming and here are a few recommended by igeeksblog.com. Because we haven’t tested them ourselves, this is list for your consideration only.
- Sony NWWS413LM. These headphones look really cool and functional. They are number one on their list and the claim is you can wear them up to six feet deep. They are also sweat resistant and dustproof.
- These headphones can run up to 8 hours on a charge and has 8GB of built-in memory.
- The headphone sports a headband style and soft earbuds and also offer 8GB of memory. Better yet, if 8 feet under isn’t enough, this headphone is good for 10 feet deep!
